Services

Whether you are planning to build an extension, form an opening in an internal or external wall, put heavier load on an existing structure or refurbishing your property you will probably need a structural engineer to provide a design service. The design is essential for your proposed builder to price the work and also for the Local Authority Building Inspector (or Approved Inspector) to check and approve the design before it is built.

We will visit your property to discuss your proposals, or look at your architect’s plans in order to provide a written price for our involvement. Once appointed, we will provide structural calculations, drawings, sketches and details for approval by the local authority or approved inspector. We will then be available to support you once work is being undertaken at your property by answering queries that may arise or visiting the works if unexpected situations are encountered.

Civil Engineering Design

If you are planning a development, you will need a civil engineering design for the planning process, and also for your Contractor to price the work accordingly. The design would be an essential part of your Building Regulations approval.

Cornerstone Structural Design will consider you architect’s drawings and visit the site in order to provide a written price for their involvement. Once appointed, we will then provide civil engineering calculations. These will include drawings, sketches and details for road layout and construction, foul and surface water drainage and advice about foundations for approval by the local authority or approved inspector. Furthermore we will then be available to support you once work is being undertaken by answering queries that may arise or visiting the works if unexpected situations are encountered.
